WHAT DO WE DO?
In addition, there are also informal gatherings on an ad hoc basis throughout the year at various locations so make sure you check the site regularly.
Not qualified yet? No problem. We are a social group as much as a diving group and we run a variety of courses throughout the year to get you in the water and having fun. We also organise a wide variety of club dives throughout the season, aimed at both newly qualified and ‘out-of-practice’ divers, as well as more experienced divers.
The ‘orientation’ dives for the newly qualified are intended to provide an enjoyable and stress free way of gaining experience and working your way up to more challenging dives.
Other more challenging ‘club’ dives are arranged for experienced divers. Locations include Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Wales, Scotland and many other UK locations.
There are usually two or three trips to more exotic locations abroad organised by. This gives members a chance to treat themselves to some sun and warm water.
So if you're looking for a friendly diving club with a good diving and social calendar or just want the opportunity to get in the water - come along on our club night and check us out.

We met Steve Jellis and Alan Baldwin late 2016; inspired by someone close to me who had his family learn to dive at home as part of a private course, I thought let’s make some memories. We knew we would in time move to Australia and our dreams were to explore the ocean. So I contacted Herts Dive Club - Steve Jellis contacted me.
He came around to assess our pool and we immediately got planning. Each fri night Steve and Alan would arrive around 5-6pm with all their crates of gear and even emergency equipment (so professional!) - we (my wife and 11 year old son) were led through ground school and all the PADI skills. The quality of instruction was outstanding.
We had fun, worked really hard and were left with significant homework each week. I used to be. BSAC diver with over 150 dives and I really learned from this process. Most nights Steve and Alan would leave around 11pm and put SO much into the course. We used to have a buffet together as part of the evening to make it fun. We all completed the course with success and great enjoyment.
Steve and Alan are SO calm, passionate about their craft and extremely patient teachers. They even got our youngest daughter and middle son underwater to be a “bubble maker”. It was a wonderful experience and we would wholeheartedly recommend the team. It’s such a professional outfit.
We qualified in Western Australia on Morgan’s 12th birthday plus one day and now dive most weekends on the stunning reefs here. Thank you to Steve, Alan and the club for helping us start our journey of wonder in the oceans and to sharing their passions.
Just wanted to say very quickly how awesome last night was, had a lot of fun with Bruce and Kath on the DSD! - Definitely considering my open water. Would recommend this taster to anyone thinking about diving!
Thanks for arranging the opportunity to experience Scuba, I really enjoyed yesterday and Bruce was terrific. Can I put my name forward for the 5 week open dive course starting in September?
I was just looking into booking our scuba diving in Greece and reflecting on the Stoney weekend when it occurred to me I didn't thank you in writing for taking Daisianne and I through the open water course. So I just wanted to say thanks - I know you and Alan are volunteers but also a lot of other people gave up their time that weekend to help us and were all really supportive and understood how tough it was in places. You have a good team there, so thanks and hopefully we will be in touch about future courses etc at some point.
Just a note to thank you for the SCUBA intro on Tuesday, we all thoroughly enjoyed the session and will be coming back to you in the very near future to begin the certification process.
Good afternoon Steve, thank you for your recent emails and the prompt issue of the temp open water card.
I am planning on joining the club starting from the 1st October. I will return the application form and set up the payment in the next couple of weeks. Once again a big thanks to you and your team for the passed few weeks in guiding us towards achieving our open water qualification. Your professional and approachable manor have helped make this course very enjoyable.
I look forward to gaining the advance diver qualification in the new year with Herts Dive Club.
So yesterday I completed my 4 open water dives down to 18m. All I can say it that compared to all the other students that I was with it was blatantly obvious that you guys do a brilliant job. The people I were with had also recently completed their confined water stuff but it was clear that the training they had was no where near the same level.
Thanks again to all he team and HDC and I look forward to becoming a member as soon as I'm back in the uk.
Here is a couple of pics. Ignore the dates! Forgot to set my camera up properly!
