The start of day 2 (day one for most of us) started with a bang at 3am. Rowell cabbed it in a panic to Luton airport, Kim overslept, Paul had his dad on standby and I (this is Kath by the way) had just rolled in from an epic BBQ about 1 hour before – thank goodness that Dan was there to round us all up and get us to Luton for our Check in time of 4am!!
After a flight, cab ride and ferry trip we were finally met at the Gozo Ferry terminal by Sheren and Tim in our ‘beasts’ for the week, Malta mean machine 1 (MM1) and Malta mean machine 2 (MM2)…more about these little beauties another time as we could dedicate a blog entry just on their merits!
A short but bumpy ride to Xlendi Bay saw us unpack and set up our dive kit before heading straight out to dive site number 1,Mgarr ix-Xini, for a nice relaxed , check dive to make sure all kit had survived the journey.
Some fared better than others, with newest member Rowell leaving one half of his wet suit back at Gozo HQ, Moby Divers, Ulysses Apartments. (photographic evidence can be seen at the end).

Deco Time, Drinks and Dinner
After a great dive HDC ‘Team Gozo’ went back to HQ to de-kit and enjoyed Happy Hour between 5-7, also known here as deco time! We had a short sea front walk to the bar of choice Ta’ Nona before a fantastic first night dinner at Carolina’s where good food, good drink and good conversations went on into the late hours. I had the local rabbit dish – it was YUMMY, and I can highly recommend it!
